A submarine is a ship that operates underwater, normally beyond the range of human survivability. They were first widely used in World War I and are still used in many major navies today. They are used in many roles, from launching a nuclear attack (ballistic-missle submarines) to sinking ships (hunter-killer submarines) to discovering wrecks (ex. the Titanic).
